My First Duty Station, what a great place! Havelock the surrounding town is base friendly and there is plenty to do on and off base. I stayed in Barracks 4197 and was with H&HS for about 3 years. the Yacht Club will put you through a class and you can rent boats super cheap. The golf course is above par for a Marine Base. Great duty station!
Greenpoint is one of my favorite go to brunch areas, and with so many amazing choices around the neighborhood you have to be able to stand out. Cherry Point definitely was able to accomplish that. The menu is what dreams are made of with various meats, cheeses and combinations of the two. The place has a great vibe and lots of window seating if you wanna brunch it solo style.
They don't have a lot of a food selection, but it isn't necessary as what they do have all sounds great. I highly recommend the brisket and eggs. My fiancé got the baked eggs and it was delish as well, but pales in comparison to my brisket (and as someone from Texas, I mean it). The Bloody Mary was OK. Nothing stood out about it, but I finished it all the same. My only complaint has nothing to do with the restaurant itself but to the girl next to us who wouldn't stop staring at my food. Yeah, it looked great, but I don't want people watching me eat! Haha no but really. Cherry Point is great.
Service is fine but don’t take your dog to get spade. They used staples on the incision and the scare is 3+ inches. Looks like the work Frankenstein’s Dr. I’d post a picture but unfortunately it’s not an option on here.
I recommend the Devil Dog Inn for marine families staying on base, and the Orange Chicken from Rice King >-
Cherry Point 2016 for the air show had a very great time we drove there from Knoxville Tennessee 10th hours and we are going back in 2018 it was the best air show I have ever been met some great Marines
